Time: Ride off from Toongabbie Adult Riders Club grounds 8am on the 8th.
Where: From Toongabbie, following the old coach route to Walhalla via Brunton's Bridge.
Camp at Walhalla Saturday night. Camping is available at the Toongabbie Adult Riders Club grounds on the Friday night before the ride, please contact the organising committee for details.
Cost: $TBC. This fee covers lunch, morning & afternoon tea and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday, as well as mandatory insurance and club membership.
Description: As we are following the old coach route, we ride the whole way on well established gravel road. It is recomended all horses are shod (or have well established Barefoot Trims), all riders under 18 MUST wear a helmet, and there will be a gear & horse inspection prior to the ride. Horses and / or riders may be excluded from the ride at the discretion of the Trail Boss, if deemed unfit or unsafe for the ride. The ride is conducted under ATHRA guidelines. Whilst the ride is conducted at a walk, it is approximately 32 km long, up and down hills and winding roads. Therefore some degree of horse and rider fitness is required. We have several members who bring along packhourse with traditional pack saddles, in memory of the original 'bushies' who took supplies to Walhalla the hard way. Saturday evening there is traditionally a gathering around the campfire, and singing for the more adventurous or tuneful. On Sunday, riders are encouraged to dress up in "Period" costume (eg turn of the century), for a Grand Parade on horse back through the main street of Walhalla.  On Sunday we also have a fundraising auction of donated goods.
All riders must be current ATHRA and Thomson Valley Bush Riders members.
